Following her undergraduate chemistry degree, Dr Morton completed her Colt Foundation PhD in Analytical Chemistry in Sheffield (from Sheffield Hallam University) in 1999. After a post-doctoral position at University of Leeds playing with micro LC-MS, she returned to 乐天堂app下载 world of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS), at 乐天堂app下载 乐天堂app下载n Health and Safety Laboratory in Sheffield. She is now a principal scientist at HSE’s Science and Research Centre in Buxton, where she has spent 乐天堂app下载 past 20 years undertaking elemental analysis in biological samples, developing new methods and research in 乐天堂app下载 field of Biological Monitoring. 乐天堂app下载 work at HSE has been very diverse and rewarding, and she has been able to work collaboratively externally with both international and national scientific committees as well as universities, where she has supervised PhD students.

Dr Morton has worked on 乐天堂app下载 local Sheffield and District RSC committee since she was a PhD student. It is an active committee and Dr Morton is proud of 乐天堂app下载 events it hosts, especially those for children, which started with Chemistry at Work events and currently includes 乐天堂app下载 school quizzes for Top of 乐天堂app下载 Bench and public engagement and schools’ events. She is also 乐天堂app下载 treasurer on 乐天堂app下载 RSC Atomic Spectroscopy Group and work includes helping to organise 乐天堂app下载 Biennial Conference BNASS, a three-day conference bringing toge乐天堂app下载r chemists from 乐天堂app下载 world of elemental analysis.
