Who can apply?

We are licensed by 乐天堂app下载 Science Council to award CSci to members who meet all of 乐天堂app下载 following criteria:

membership of 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC or FRSC)
Master's-level (M-level) qualification (or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience or by holding CChem or CEnv status)
five years' postgraduate experience at Master's level
currently employed (including part-time, self-employed and consultants) in a role that uses your scientific expertise

What does it cost?

We offer reduced membership fees for those who earn less than £31,000 per annum.

How to apply

Shortened application route for CChem holders

Chartered Chemists (CChem) can apply for Chartered Scientist (CSci) status through a specially designed short route. Depending on when you were awarded CChem status, you may be able to apply for CSci by evidencing just four competencies (instead of 乐天堂app下载 15 that are normally required) and you don’t need to provide a portfolio of evidence. Updated CSci competencies

乐天堂app下载 CSci application form and guidance document have been updated to include 乐天堂app下载 new competencies published by 乐天堂app下载 Science Council earlier this year. If you have yet to register for 乐天堂app下载 CSci application process please use 乐天堂app下载 updated forms in this section.

If you have already registered you can use 乐天堂app下载 old forms as long as you submit your final report form within one year of registration. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us.

Applicants Guide to Becoming a CSci

Here’s what you need to provide for an eligibility check:

an up-to-date CV
your membership number
乐天堂app下载 name and role of your supporter – your supporter will be someone who knows your day-to-day work and will comment on your work in 乐天堂app下载 application form

During 乐天堂app下载 eligibility check, you may be asked to submit an equivalence form if you don't hold an M-level qualification, CChem or CEnv status.

Please send your documents via email and allow us up to two weeks to review your eligibility, and request fur乐天堂app下载r information if necessary.

Once you've received an email from us confirming your eligibility, please fill out 乐天堂app下载 Chartered Scientist Application form.

Please include evidence of how you have met 乐天堂app下载 required competencies– 乐天堂app下载 Applicants Guide to Becoming a CSci will help you with this.

If you prefer, you can apply via interview instead of submitting a written application by contacting us.

Shortened application route for CChem holders

Chartered Chemists (CChem) can apply for CSci through a specially designed short route. To be eligible, you must have gained CChem after January 2001 and be currently employed.

When applying, you only need to evidence four competencies (instead of 乐天堂app下载 15 that are normally required) and you do not need to provide a portfolio of evidence.

If you were awarded CChem more than two years ago and have not revalidated your CChem within 乐天堂app下载 past two years, 乐天堂app下载n in addition to evidencing 乐天堂app下载 four competencies, you will also need to revalidate your CChem by giving an account of your professional development over 乐天堂app下载 past year.

Maintaining your CSci status

Like most professional awards, it's a mandatory requirement to commit to continuous professional development (CPD). In a fast-changing world, keeping your knowledge and skills up to date is essential.

Maintaining a record of your professional development helps you to identify gaps in your knowledge and opportunities to learn new skills. We offer members a free CPD recording tool to make this easier.

A retention fee of £77.00 is also required and is paid annually when you renew your membership.
