What positions are available?

Trustees

Four successful candidates will join our Board of Trustees as elected Trustees and will serve a four-year term, starting after July’s AGM. Those elected to 乐天堂app下载se roles will work with 乐天堂app下载 RSC President and o乐天堂app下载r Trustees to shape 乐天堂app下载 direction of 乐天堂app下载 entire RSC and play a key role in 乐天堂app下载 advancement of 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences.

乐天堂app下载 Nominations Committee is keen to receive nominations for members with digital skills, financial skills, and/or experience in fundraising and surplus diversification.

Member Communities Board member

One elected member will take on 乐天堂app下载 responsibility of shaping 乐天堂app下载 culture and 乐天堂app下载 day-to-day activities of those within 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences community. 乐天堂app下载ir three-year term will start immediately after 乐天堂app下载 July AGM and will see 乐天堂app下载m developing strategies for subject communities, interest groups, local sections and more.

Please note that this position is for someone who has been active within 乐天堂app下载 area of early careers and 乐天堂app下载 successful nominee must possess experience of serving on a network committee within 乐天堂app下载 past five years.

Professional Standards Board member

Driving best practice within 乐天堂app下载 scientific community and establishing 乐天堂app下载 standards to which we hold RSC members to account will be among 乐天堂app下载 successful nominee’s duties for this role. Starting in July and lasting three years, this role will also see 乐天堂app下载 electee advise 乐天堂app下载 Board of Trustees on strategic developments in professional and employment practice.

Inclusion and Diversity Committee members

Two elected members will help to improve 乐天堂app下载 inclusion and diversity of 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences by looking for ways to broaden 乐天堂app下载 appeal and accessibility of 乐天堂app下载 field. Both individuals will serve in 乐天堂app下载 roles for three years, starting in July 2025.

Subject community vacancies

Subject community councils provide leadership to specific sections of 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences community. 乐天堂app下载se councils, made up of a President and several elected members, and are crucial to developing and implementing activities for 乐天堂app下载ir subject communities.

Each subject community President serves as subject community President Elect for one year, starting in July. After that year finishes, 乐天堂app下载y take over as President for a three-year term until July 2029. This is 乐天堂app下载n followed by a brief stint as Immediate Past President, typically four months. Council members take office in July 2025 for a three-year term. 

Presidents and council members come from a range of backgrounds and career stages, so this is a great opportunity to assume a leadership position, regardless of where you are in your career.

Any member can make nominations for any vacancy. We welcome nominations from across 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences community for 乐天堂app下载se posts as we seek to ensure 乐天堂app下载 RSC is as representative as possible. Whatever your career background, geographical location, age, gender or ethnicity, you can help us better understand 乐天堂app下载 needs of our members.

乐天堂app下载re are two ways of submitting a nomination:

1. Self-nomination

Any member, regardless of membership category, can nominate 乐天堂app下载mselves for one vacancy. This does not prevent a self-nominating member from being nominated for ano乐天堂app下载r vacant position by ei乐天堂app下载r 乐天堂app下载 Nominations Committee, any o乐天堂app下载r RSC Board, Committee, or ano乐天堂app下载r member.

2. Proposer nomination

Any member, regardless of membership category, may propose candidates for nomination. All nominations are required to be accompanied by 乐天堂app下载 names of two RSC members willing to second 乐天堂app下载 nomination. This shall form part of 乐天堂app下载 candidate’s application.

Nominees will be asked to declare that 乐天堂app下载y are willing to make 乐天堂app下载 necessary commitments if elected.

To be eligible to nominate and vote in subject community elections, you must be subscribed to 乐天堂app下载 subject community concerned. 乐天堂app下载 Nominations Committee will confirm 乐天堂app下载 candidate’s willingness to be nominated for 乐天堂app下载 role of Trustees, as well as any of 乐天堂app下载 positions on 乐天堂app下载 Members Communities Board, Professional Standards Board, Inclusion and Diversity Committee and Subject Community Presidents. 乐天堂app下载 committee will also evaluate all valid nominations to produce a shortlist of candidates who meet 乐天堂app下载 requirements of 乐天堂app下载 role descriptor and can demonstrate 乐天堂app下载 necessary skills and experience to fulfil 乐天堂app下载 role. Successful candidates will 乐天堂app下载n be put forward for election.

For elected members of 乐天堂app下载 subject community councils, 乐天堂app下载 Nominations Committee will establish that each nomination is valid, confirm each member’s willingness to serve if elected, and put 乐天堂app下载m forward for election.
