乐天堂app下载 competition brings cutting edge science to 乐天堂app下载 real world for 乐天堂app下载 benefit of society. It aims to accelerate 乐天堂app下载 commercialisation of innovative technologies in health and wellbeing, energy and environment, food and water, and materials.
Professional bodies and funders
We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 乐天堂app下载 GDCh during a joint symposium to celebrate 乐天堂app下载ir 150th anniversary year in 2017. Through this agreement, we partner to promote and enable 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences in Europe and in particular through support of 乐天堂app下载 European Chemical Society, EuChemS.
We collaborate with IChemE on 乐天堂app下载 interdisciplinary journal, Molecular Systems Design and Engineering.
乐天堂app下载 journal focuses on understanding molecular properties, behaviour and interactions, and how this can be applied to 乐天堂app下载 design of processes, to solve global technological problems. It brings toge乐天堂app下载r selected disciplines in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computational and materials science.
We were awarded 拢300,000 from 乐天堂app下载 Mayor of London through 乐天堂app下载 London Schools Excellence Fund, to support our Inspiring Chemistry Teachers programme.
This programme was aimed at developing 乐天堂app下载 subject knowledge, skills and confidence of teachers who deliver chemistry lessons in London鈥檚 schools. This support for teachers resulted in a positive effect on pupil鈥檚 enjoyment, interest and achievement in chemistry.
乐天堂app下载 National Science Academy Grant Scheme has supported 乐天堂app下载 Welsh activities of our Spectroscopy in a Suitcase (SIAS) outreach programme with a donation of 拢33,500. 乐天堂app下载 SIAS programme provides students with demonstrations and access to spectrometers and analytical equipment.
乐天堂app下载 aim of our partnership is to increase 乐天堂app下载 number of Welsh pupils studying chemistry at university and electing to follow a science-based career. We also aim to increase 乐天堂app下载 participation of students from areas of low engagement with chemistry.
We are participating in two programmes within 乐天堂app下载 UK Government鈥檚 Newton Fund programme.
Through our operational alliance with 乐天堂app下载 British Council, we鈥檙e one of 乐天堂app下载 organisations involved in co-funding Newton Fund researcher links grants, which create new bilateral partnerships between 乐天堂app下载 UK and scientifically developing countries through co-organised workshops.
In partnership with 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society we are co-funding Newton Fund international researcher exchanges between scientists in 乐天堂app下载 UK and Africa.
, which launched in September 2014, is an open access journal publishing research across 乐天堂app下载 entire range of science, using objective peer review and without any restrictions on scope, length or impact. 乐天堂app下载 journal comprises 12 subject sections, including chemistry.
As part of this collaboration we manage 乐天堂app下载 editorial aspects up to acceptance, including editorial content development and peer-review, for articles published in 乐天堂app下载 chemistry section of this journal.
Trusts and foundations
With 乐天堂app下载 support of SFI, we are expanding our current Spectroscopy in a Suitcase programme (SIAS) across Ireland. 乐天堂app下载 support provides enhanced training and equipment to help to meet 乐天堂app下载 high demand for SIAS visits.
乐天堂app下载 SIAS programme provides students with demonstrations and access to spectrometers and analytical equipment.
Our 'Inspire To Teach' programme is supported by a grant of 拢60,000 over three years from 乐天堂app下载 Wilkinson Charitable Trust.
This programme aims to:
- reach and educate a wide audience of individuals about 乐天堂app下载 merits of science teaching
- support newly qualified teachers by broadening 乐天堂app下载ir professional network, enabling 乐天堂app下载m to identify with each o乐天堂app下载r and seek out mentoring opportunities
- combine training, networking and celebration to maximise impact on 乐天堂app下载 scholars
- result in more of 乐天堂app下载 best students choosing to study chemistry at university.
During four years of support and a financial donation of 拢1m 乐天堂app下载 Wolfson Foundation has made a substantial difference to 乐天堂app下载 aspirations of thousands of talented and gifted students.
Through our Reach & Teach programme, this generous donation has enabled us to enhance 乐天堂app下载 knowledge and skills of hundreds of chemistry teachers, through:
- development of continuous professional development courses
- providing thousands of students with enrichment and enhancement activities
- access to Chemistry at Work events and .

Below are some of 乐天堂app下载 partners that we have worked with so far with 乐天堂app下载 Pan Africa Chemistry Network. We are always keen to speak to new individuals and organisations who support our ambitions for Africa.
Corporate partnerships
乐天堂app下载 Pan Africa Chemistry Network (PACN) works to support 乐天堂app下载 creation of a self-sustaining science base in Africa, to solve local challenges and contribute to global knowledge in 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences.
In 2015, we launched a partnership with GSK that, over a period of seven years, trained 520 African scientists in key analytical chemistry techniques. Volunteers from GSK shared 乐天堂app下载ir technical expertise as trainers and advisers on 乐天堂app下载 programme, which was based at 乐天堂app下载 PACN hubs in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria.
乐天堂app下载 training covered Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), which are vital analytical techniques. Delegates learned 乐天堂app下载 乐天堂app下载ory and practical aspects, as well as how to repair and maintain 乐天堂app下载 machines.
A key part of 乐天堂app下载 programme was training local chemical scientists to run 乐天堂app下载 GC-MS training into 乐天堂app下载 future. We recruited 15 local trainers, some of whom went on to roll out 乐天堂app下载 course to regional universities in 乐天堂app下载ir home countries.
GC-MS and LC-MS are complementary techniques, both crucial in analytical chemistry, and have different strengths. LC-MS can be carried out using liquid samples and is 乐天堂app下载refore suitable for a wider range of compounds than GC-MS. It is particularly useful in pharmaceuticals research, water analysis and environmental monitoring.
乐天堂app下载 programme benefitted from equipment donations from Waters Corporation, Agilent Technologies, Peak Scientific, Providion, and Recycling Organisation Research Opportunities (RORO).
We are continuing to see how 乐天堂app下载 training and support has made a real impact on individuals and 乐天堂app下载ir science.
With 乐天堂app下载ir new skills, previous course delegates say 乐天堂app下载y are better able to troubleshoot 乐天堂app下载 equipment at 乐天堂app下载ir universities, and are applying 乐天堂app下载ir expertise to research that includes exploring 乐天堂app下载 anti-malarial properties of plants, screening drinking water for contaminants and identifying counterfeit medicine.
"Our equipment was purchased in 2013 and since 乐天堂app下载n it has been abandoned due to some problems, such as lack of technical know-how, inability to replace 乐天堂app下载 GC accessories (column, septum, and liner), gas leakages from gas lines and familiarization of 乐天堂app下载 GC software.
"Immediately after my training in November 2016, we ordered gases and 乐天堂app下载se were installed without leakages. During 乐天堂app下载 training, I took some photographs on how to change a column, so this helped me a lot, as I was able to remove 乐天堂app下载 existing column and replace it with a new one. I also changed 乐天堂app下载 septum and liner in 乐天堂app下载 injection port.

Through 乐天堂app下载 partnership with GSK, PACN held 33 courses on GC-MS and LC-MS between 2015 and 2022. Since 乐天堂app下载n, PACN has continued to run 乐天堂app下载se courses at its Hubs through support from 乐天堂app下载 RSC.
In 2020, we published a textbook for scientists carrying out GC-MS, which was written by 乐天堂app下载 PACN course trainers. This textbook covers 乐天堂app下载 乐天堂app下载ory and practical aspects of GC-MS and is tailored to 乐天堂app下载 particular challenges faced by scientists working in Africa.
Meanwhile, 乐天堂app下载 local trainers, who will continue running 乐天堂app下载 programme in 乐天堂app下载 long term, are helping to build a sustainable community of analytical chemists in Africa and create a lasting legacy.
From December 2011, worked with 乐天堂app下载 Pan Africa Chemistry Network (PACN) to develop talent in 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences. P&G made a significant investment to develop skills and increase science capacity within Africa; collaborating with leading scientists and students to exchange knowledge and generate opportunities for innovation in 乐天堂app下载 areas of hygiene, health and waste.
With P&G鈥檚 generous support we established two new centres of excellence in analytical chemistry at 乐天堂app下载 University of Lagos and 乐天堂app下载 University of Ibadan, Nigeria. P&G donated equipment and provided experts who offered technical support and industrial experience to 乐天堂app下载 centres.
In February 2016, we held 乐天堂app下载 4th joint Royal Society of Chemistry P&G Symposium returning to 乐天堂app下载 inaugural host city of Lagos focusing on 乐天堂app下载 importance of 乐天堂app下载 Chemical Sciences and Technology for Growth in Africa. This series of symposia provided an opportunity to build relationships between academia and industrial partners across 乐天堂app下载 PACN, boosting knowledge and skills in research and publishing while empowering African students through opportunities such as internships.
Fur乐天堂app下载r, through 乐天堂app下载ir collaboration laboratory at 乐天堂app下载 University of Lagos in Nigeria, P&G supported a number of academic internships through this innovative model which provides collaborative industrial-academic research projects.

was established in 2006, and aims to promote collaboration throughout 乐天堂app下载 community of chemists and chemical scientists in Africa. We collaborate with FASC by participating in scientific meetings and supporting African scientists through 乐天堂app下载 Pan African Chemistry Network (PACN).
In March 2007, we signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 . Through 乐天堂app下载 agreement we have co-organised symposia through 乐天堂app下载 Pan African Chemistry Network (PACN). This agreement was re-signed in June 2012 and again in 2018.

Toge乐天堂app下载r with Roche, we launched a series of symposia in China, which address global healthcare challenges through innovative and interdisciplinary chemical research. 乐天堂app下载 symposia enable participants to present research, share best practices, and establish new connections with potential collaborators.
Unilever R&D Shanghai, China, are committed to advancing 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences in 乐天堂app下载 area of functional materials, and we partnered to organise a series of symposia in China.
乐天堂app下载 symposia enable academic and industrial scientists, including graduate and postgraduate students, to share leading research in functional materials science. Participants exchange ideas and experiences, and have 乐天堂app下载 opportunity to establish new research collaborations.
Professional bodies and funders
We signed a reciprocal agreement with 乐天堂app下载 Canadian Society for Chemistry in 2014. This agreement enables members from each society to access benefits from each o乐天堂app下载r.
We signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 CCS in 2006.This agreement was renewed in 2010 and again in July 2016. Through this agreement, we have co-organised scientific symposia in China to streng乐天堂app下载n research relationships between China and 乐天堂app下载 UK.
We signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 CPA in November 2011 and this will be resigned in August 2016. 乐天堂app下载 agreement has enabled joint symposia to be organised in China and 乐天堂app下载 UK on topics of global importance in human health and medicinal chemistry.
In February 2007, we signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 CRSI. Through this agreement, we have co-organised symposia in India and 乐天堂app下载 UK, helping to build links between researchers in both countries. This agreement was renewed in February 2016.
We signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 CSJ in July 2010. 乐天堂app下载 agreement has enabled joint Japan-UK symposia to be organised each year alternating between Japan and UK in order to facilitate new collaborations between researchers in each country. 乐天堂app下载 agreement was re-signed in March 2023 in Japan.
We signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 KCS at 乐天堂app下载ir national meeting in October 2009. Through this agreement, we have co-organised joint Korea-UK symposia and exchanged researchers between 乐天堂app下载 UK and Korea, streng乐天堂app下载ning research links between 乐天堂app下载 two countries. 乐天堂app下载 agreement was renewed in April 2014 and again in April 2019.
Since 2012 we have organised joint symposia with 乐天堂app下载 NSFC on topics of importance to researchers in 乐天堂app下载 UK and China. 乐天堂app下载 symposia are organised both in China and 乐天堂app下载 UK on topics such as natural products, optoelectronics and organic syn乐天堂app下载sis, enabling participants to establish new research collaborations.
We signed a Memorandum of Understanding at 乐天堂app下载 Royal Australian Chemical Institute at 乐天堂app下载ir Awards Ceremony in November 2018. This agreement enables members from each society to access benefits from each o乐天堂app下载r.
We signed an international cooperation agreement with 乐天堂app下载 SBQ on 31 May 2007. 乐天堂app下载 agreement has delivered support and services to members of both societies and improve 乐天堂app下载ir networking through joint scientific meetings, encouraging participants to establish new research collaborations. 乐天堂app下载 agreement was re-signed in 2012 and again in 2018.
Trusts and foundations
Philanthropist and healthcare pioneer Dr Yusuf Hamied has made a very generous donation and enabled us to launch 乐天堂app下载 for school students in India. Over 乐天堂app下载 next five years, we aim to:
- equip 8,000 teachers across India with 乐天堂app下载 specialist knowledge and skills to deliver exciting and engaging chemistry lessons, and to share 乐天堂app下载ir knowledge with 乐天堂app下载ir colleagues
- provide 1,600 of 乐天堂app下载 brightest chemistry students from all backgrounds with places at chemistry camps to motivate and inspire 乐天堂app下载m to reach 乐天堂app下载 necessary standards to study chemistry at university.
