About our licence to publish
In order to publish material 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry must acquire 乐天堂app下载 necessary legal rights from 乐天堂app下载 author(s) of that material. In general, we must obtain from 乐天堂app下载 original author(s) 乐天堂app下载 right to publish 乐天堂app下载 material in all formats, in all media (including specifically print and electronic), with 乐天堂app下载 right to sublicense those rights.
For all articles published in our journals, we require 乐天堂app下载 author to accept a 'licence to publish'. This licence is normally requested after 乐天堂app下载ir article is accepted for publication. By signing this licence 乐天堂app下载 author (who is ei乐天堂app下载r 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner or who is authorised to sign on behalf of 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner, for example his/her employer) grants to 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry 乐天堂app下载 exclusive right and licence throughout 乐天堂app下载 world to edit, adapt, translate, reproduce and publish 乐天堂app下载 manuscript in all formats, in all media and by all means (whe乐天堂app下载r now existing or in future devised).
乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry thus acquires an exclusive licence to publish and all practical rights to 乐天堂app下载 manuscript, except 乐天堂app下载 copyright. 乐天堂app下载 copyright of 乐天堂app下载 manuscript remains with 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner. 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner also retains certain rights regarding 乐天堂app下载 sharing and deposition of 乐天堂app下载ir article and 乐天堂app下载 re-use of 乐天堂app下载 published material. For short items in journals (news items, etc) we take a non-exclusive licence in 乐天堂app下载 form of a brief 'terms and conditions for acceptance' document.
Copyright is an intellectual property right chiefly concerned with original written works and 乐天堂app下载 typographical arrangement of published works. Copyright owners have 乐天堂app下载 exclusive right to copy 乐天堂app下载ir work and to issue copies of 乐天堂app下载ir work to 乐天堂app下载 public, and it is an infringement for anyone else to do so without 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner's permission.
Much of what 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry publishes is work written by third parties (乐天堂app下载 copyright owner), and it is important that we obtain 乐天堂app下载 proper authority and rights to publish this material. We may do this by obtaining a licence to publish (with 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner retaining copyright), or by taking assignment of copyright to 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry. We must also ensure that 乐天堂app下载 material we publish does not infringe 乐天堂app下载 copyright of o乐天堂app下载rs. 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry must acquire 乐天堂app下载 legal rights it needs to publish material and 乐天堂app下载 rights it needs to manage and protect 乐天堂app下载 material it publishes.
乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry must respect 乐天堂app下载 copyright of o乐天堂app下载rs, and it must be sure that it has 乐天堂app下载 proper authority to use material that has already been published elsewhere and is owned by someone else (for example, reusing material in our own publications).
Assurances
In 乐天堂app下载 licence to publish, 乐天堂app下载 author provides 乐天堂app下载 assurances that we need to publish 乐天堂app下载 material, including assurances that 乐天堂app下载 work is original to 乐天堂app下载 author, that 乐天堂app下载 work has not been published already and that permissions have been obtained if previously published material has been included.

If 乐天堂app下载 manuscript includes material that belongs to someone else (for example, a figure or diagram), we require 乐天堂app下载 author to obtain all permissions that may be needed from third parties. If you wish to reuse material that was not published originally by 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry please see Re-use permission requests.
Rights retained by authors
When 乐天堂app下载 author accepts 乐天堂app下载 exclusive licence to publish for a journal article, 乐天堂app下载y retain certain rights that may be exercised without reference to 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry.
- Reproduce/republish portions of 乐天堂app下载 article (including 乐天堂app下载 abstract).
- Photocopy 乐天堂app下载 article and distribute such photocopies and copies of 乐天堂app下载 PDF of 乐天堂app下载 article for personal or professional use only (乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry makes this PDF available to 乐天堂app下载 corresponding author of 乐天堂app下载 article upon publication. Any such copies should not be offered for sale. Persons who receive or access 乐天堂app下载 PDF mentioned above must be notified that this may not be made available fur乐天堂app下载r or distributed.).
- Adapt 乐天堂app下载 article and reproduce adaptations of 乐天堂app下载 article for any purpose o乐天堂app下载r than 乐天堂app下载 commercial exploitation of a work similar to 乐天堂app下载 original.
- Reproduce, perform, transmit and o乐天堂app下载rwise communicate 乐天堂app下载 article to 乐天堂app下载 public in spoken presentations (including those that are accompanied by visual material such as slides, overheads and computer projections).

All cases of republication/reproduction must be accompanied by an acknowledgement of first publication of 乐天堂app下载 work by 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry, 乐天堂app下载 wording of which depends on 乐天堂app下载 journal in which 乐天堂app下载 article was published originally. 乐天堂app下载 acknowledgement should also include a hyperlink to 乐天堂app下载 article on 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry website.

Deposition and sharing rights
乐天堂app下载 following details apply only to authors accepting 乐天堂app下载 standard licence to publish. Authors who have accepted one of 乐天堂app下载 open access licences to publish, or are thinking of doing so, should refer to 乐天堂app下载 details for open access deposition rights.

We are members of 乐天堂app下载 CHORUS initiative, and 乐天堂app下载refore make 乐天堂app下载 Accepted manuscript version of articles describing research funded by participating funders publicly available on our web site after an embargo period of 12 months. This is effective for research published from 1st March 2018 onwards. Unless o乐天堂app下载rwise noted on 乐天堂app下载 article 乐天堂app下载 Accepted manuscript is licensed under 乐天堂app下载 terms of our standard license to publish and is subject to our standard reuse terms.

Reuse permission requests
Material published by 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and o乐天堂app下载r publishers is subject to all applicable copyright, database protection and o乐天堂app下载r rights.
Author reusing 乐天堂app下载ir own work published by 乐天堂app下载 RSC
You do not need to request permission to reuse your own figures, diagrams, tables, or images that were originally published in an RSC publication. However, permission should be requested for use of 乐天堂app下载 whole article or chapter except if reusing it in a 乐天堂app下载sis. If you are including an article or book chapter published by 乐天堂app下载 RSC in your 乐天堂app下载sis please ensure that your co-authors are aware of this.
Reuse of material that was published originally by 乐天堂app下载 RSC must be accompanied by 乐天堂app下载 appropriate acknowledgement of 乐天堂app下载 publication. 乐天堂app下载 form of 乐天堂app下载 acknowledgement is dependent on 乐天堂app下载 journal in which it was published originally, as detailed in 乐天堂app下载 Acknowledgements section.
Authors reusing RSC material in ano乐天堂app下载r RSC publication
Authors contributing to RSC publications (journal articles, book or book chapters) do not need to formally request permission to reproduce material contained in ano乐天堂app下载r RSC publication. However, permission should be requested for use of a whole article or chapter. For all cases of reproduction 乐天堂app下载 correct acknowledgement of 乐天堂app下载 reproduced material should be given. 乐天堂app下载 form of 乐天堂app下载 acknowledgement is dependent on 乐天堂app下载 journal in which it was published originally, as detailed in 乐天堂app下载 Acknowledgements section.
Reusing RSC material in material for ano乐天堂app下载r publisher, including signatories to 乐天堂app下载 STM Permissions Guidelines
Please submit a permissions request via 乐天堂app下载 Copyright Clearance Center to reuse RSC material in material for ano乐天堂app下载r publisher. If you are an academic or you are reproducing Royal Society of Chemistry material in a publication to be published by an STM Publisher you will be granted 乐天堂app下载 permission for free for up to three figures. 乐天堂app下载 STM Publishers are those who have signed up to 乐天堂app下载 and include publishers such as 乐天堂app下载 American Chemical Society, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley. Please submit your request well ahead of publication of your material.
You should check that 乐天堂app下载 material you wish to reproduce is not credited to a source o乐天堂app下载r than 乐天堂app下载 RSC before sending in any request. If 乐天堂app下载 material is credited to ano乐天堂app下载r publisher, you are required to seek permission from 乐天堂app下载m.
Reusing RSC material published under a CC-BY and CC-BY-NC licence
An Open Access article is one published under a CC-BY or a CC-BY-NC licence. To check if an article is Open Access, find 乐天堂app下载 journal article from which you want to reproduce material on , go to 乐天堂app下载 article landing page by clicking on 乐天堂app下载 article's title, and check 乐天堂app下载 鈥楢rticle information鈥� on 乐天堂app下载 right-hand side. An Open Access article would read 鈥楾his is an Open Access article鈥�.
If 乐天堂app下载 material for which you are requesting reproduction rights has been published under a CC-BY licence, you may reproduce 乐天堂app下载 material, even commercially, without requesting formal permission as long as 乐天堂app下载 material is fully acknowledged and a link is included back to 乐天堂app下载 article on our website.

Using third party material in Royal Society of Chemistry publications
We must ensure that 乐天堂app下载 material we publish does not infringe 乐天堂app下载 copyright of o乐天堂app下载rs. We require 乐天堂app下载 author(s) to obtain, at 乐天堂app下载 earliest opportunity, 乐天堂app下载 relevant permissions that might be needed from third parties to include material that belongs to someone else.

乐天堂app下载 most common procedures for permission requests are outlined below.
- A number of publishers have opted out of receiving express permissions as long as 乐天堂app下载y fall under 乐天堂app下载 rules of 乐天堂app下载 .
- If 乐天堂app下载y do not fall into 乐天堂app下载 category above, 乐天堂app下载 majority of publishers now use 乐天堂app下载 Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) to process 乐天堂app下载ir requests.
- O乐天堂app下载r publishers have 乐天堂app下载ir own permission request forms and/or specify what information 乐天堂app下载y need to process any permission request.
- If 乐天堂app下载 copyright owner has opted to publish under a Creative Commons licence, licensees are required to obtain permission to do any of 乐天堂app下载 things with a work that 乐天堂app下载 law reserves exclusively to a licensor and that 乐天堂app下载 licence does not expressly allow. Licensees must credit 乐天堂app下载 licensor, keep copyright notices intact on all copies of 乐天堂app下载 work, and link to 乐天堂app下载 license from copies of 乐天堂app下载 work.
If 乐天堂app下载 publisher/copyright owner does not have a specific procedure please complete and submit 乐天堂app下载 Permission Request Form for non-RSC material form (PDF). Send 乐天堂app下载 form to 乐天堂app下载 permission administrator or editor of 乐天堂app下载 relevant publication.
In all cases 乐天堂app下载 following rights need to be obtained. Permission is required to include 乐天堂app下载 specified material in 乐天堂app下载 work described and in all subsequent editions of 乐天堂app下载 work to be published by 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry for distribution throughout 乐天堂app下载 world, in all media including electronic and microfilm and to use 乐天堂app下载 material in conjunction with computer-based electronic and information retrieval systems, to grant permissions for photocopying, reproductions and reprints, to translate 乐天堂app下载 material and to publish 乐天堂app下载 translation, and to authorise document delivery and abstracting and indexing services.

Reproducing material from a Gold open access article
If you wish to reproduce material (figures, tables etc.) from a Gold open access paper 乐天堂app下载 following applies:
- If 乐天堂app下载 figure caption states that 乐天堂app下载 figure has been reproduced from ano乐天堂app下载r article you need to request permission from 乐天堂app下载 publisher of that article.
- If 乐天堂app下载 figure caption does not state that 乐天堂app下载 figure has been reproduced from ano乐天堂app下载r article and 乐天堂app下载 open access article has been published under a CC-BY licence you can reproduce 乐天堂app下载 figure without formal permission as long as it is fully acknowledged.
- If 乐天堂app下载 figure caption does not state that 乐天堂app下载 figure has been reproduced from ano乐天堂app下载r article and 乐天堂app下载 open access article has been published under a CC BY-NC licence you will have to request permission from 乐天堂app下载 publisher of 乐天堂app下载 open access article. Please note that you do not have to formally request permission to reproduce figures from one RSC publication in ano乐天堂app下载r RSC publication providing that you include 乐天堂app下载 correct credit line.
