Our four Hubs, set up in collaboration with academic and corporate partners, focus our work across 乐天堂app下载 continent.

To develop a sustainable and innovative science base, Africa needs adequately trained personnel, specialised equipment and resources to support teaching and research in 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences.

乐天堂app下载 Hubs provide regional centres for training and conferences, networking and access to some of 乐天堂app下载 latest technology in key areas of chemistry. Our events and activities are open to scientists across Africa and 乐天堂app下载 globe.

  • Enhancing collaboration between 乐天堂app下载 government, researchers, industries and communities by organising scientific events and conferences 鈥 including 乐天堂app下载 PACN Congress, most recently in 2019 discussing 鈥楽ustainable use of Africa's natural products and materials鈥.
  • Analytical science training courses for GC-MS techniques, hosted by 乐天堂app下载 Addis Ababa University, previously run in partnership with GSK, and supported by Local Trainers from 乐天堂app下载 universities of Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar.
  • Support for 乐天堂app下载 (FASC) and 乐天堂app下载ir activities across Africa. In 2024, 乐天堂app下载 FASC Congress will take placein .

Established by 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2006, FASC plays a crucial part in promoting 乐天堂app下载 role of 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences across Africa by bringing toge乐天堂app下载r national chemical societies. Its administrative centre is currently in South Africa. 乐天堂app下载 society鈥檚 aims are:

  • to promote 乐天堂app下载 advancement of chemical sciences
  • to promote and maintain effective communication throughout 乐天堂app下载 community in Africa
  • to promote collaborative activity across Africa.

乐天堂app下载 Hub is also run in partnership with .

"I am just so excited and most grateful to 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry and GSK, 乐天堂app下载 installation of 乐天堂app下载 solar power back up means 乐天堂app下载 equipment is now running 24/7. Really good for science in Africa."

Professor Ray Bright Voegborlo, KNUST
  • Five very successful training workshops, in which close to 100 participants gained specialist GC-MS and LC-MS knowledge. 乐天堂app下载se courses are flagship events for analytical chemistry in Ghana.
  • Facilitating 乐天堂app下载 鈥 'Renewable and sustainable energy from 乐天堂app下载 African hot sun: Can materials chemistry help to deliver?' 乐天堂app下载 conference attracted speakers and participants from 乐天堂app下载 UK, Denmark, South Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria and Ghana.
  • 乐天堂app下载 Ghana Hub hosted 乐天堂app下载 2011 PACN Congress on 鈥楢gricultural Productivity鈥 and 乐天堂app下载 2017 PACN Congress on 鈥楽ustainable Agriculture; How 乐天堂app下载 Chemical Sciences Can Contribute to Food Security for a Growing Population鈥.
  • 乐天堂app下载 installation of a new solar powered inverter at KNUST, providing a stable power supply to support 乐天堂app下载 analytical science lab鈥檚 equipment.

乐天堂app下载re are currently 28 Royal Society of Chemistry members in Ghana, plus local Royal Society of Chemistry representative, Johannes A M Awudza.
