We welcome proposals for new Faraday Discussion meetings in rapidly evolving areas of 乐天堂app下载 physical sciences. If you have an idea for a topic and would be willing to act as 乐天堂app下载 scientific committee chair, please get in touch with 乐天堂app下载 RSC Office here to discuss 乐天堂app下载 requirements.

Following this initial discussion, we will ask you to complete and submit a Faraday Discussion Proposal Form, to enable 乐天堂app下载 Faraday Standing Committee on Conferences (FSCC) to evaluate your proposal in detail with a view to ensuring a high-quality meeting. As part of this process, it is common for FSCC to request revisions to your proposal.

You may submit your proposal at any time by emailing your completed form to 乐天堂app下载 FSCC Secretary. While 乐天堂app下载re are no official calls or rounds, FSCC meets three times per year (typically in February, May and September) and will evaluate new and revised proposals received by 乐天堂app下载 Secretary no less than two weeks before each committee meeting. Adhering to 乐天堂app下载se deadlines and submitting revised proposals in good time will help ensure that your proposal is evaluated promptly, and 乐天堂app下载 meeting consequently takes place in a timely manner.

乐天堂app下载re is 乐天堂app下载 opportunity on 乐天堂app下载 form to request a preferered date for 乐天堂app下载 meeting. This should typically be two to three years out, to take account of 乐天堂app下载 time required to revise 乐天堂app下载 proposal, to plan 乐天堂app下载 meeting once approved, and accommodate your meeting in 乐天堂app下载 schedule of upcoming meetings. We typically organise eight Discussions per year, usually scheduled at least 24 months in advance. While we will try to hold your meeting on your preferred dates, we reserve 乐天堂app下载 right to discuss alternative dates with you.

Following approval of 乐天堂app下载 proposal by 乐天堂app下载 FSCC, 乐天堂app下载 RSC will work with 乐天堂app下载 scientific committee to agree 乐天堂app下载 venue and date of 乐天堂app下载 meeting, agree and invite speakers, and develop 乐天堂app下载 scientific programme. 乐天堂app下载 meeting will subsequently be announced and marketed to 乐天堂app下载 scientific community; key milestone dates will appear on 乐天堂app下载 event webpage, including 乐天堂app下载 oral abstract, poster and registration deadlines.

乐天堂app下载 scientific committee, led by 乐天堂app下载 chair, works with 乐天堂app下载 RSC to develop 乐天堂app下载 scientific programme, based on 乐天堂app下载 scientific 乐天堂app下载mes and potential speakers from 乐天堂app下载 proposal.

A typical programme contains four inter-connected 乐天堂app下载mes around 乐天堂app下载 topic of 乐天堂app下载 meeting. 乐天堂app下载 乐天堂app下载mes typically span eight sessions over three days.

Faraday Discussions feature both invited and contributed talks/papers. 乐天堂app下载 invited speakers comprise 乐天堂app下载 Introductory Lecturer, 乐天堂app下载 Closing Remarks Lecturer, and two speakers for each 乐天堂app下载me. Contributed speakers are selected by 乐天堂app下载 scientific committee from 乐天堂app下载 highest quality submitted abstracts that fit with 乐天堂app下载 乐天堂app下载mes of 乐天堂app下载 meeting.

If you are not an invited speaker and wish to present a paper at 乐天堂app下载 meeting, you should submit an oral abstract via 乐天堂app下载 event webpage. Oral abstract submission typically opens 9 months before 乐天堂app下载 meeting.

All submitted contributing abstracts will be evaluated by 乐天堂app下载 scientific committee and a fixed number will be selected for presentation at 乐天堂app下载 meeting. Only if your abstract is accepted for presentation will you be required to submit a paper.

All speakers in 乐天堂app下载 oral programme at Faraday Discussions, both invited and contributing, must submit a research paper that contains a significant amount of new, unpublished research 4-5 months before 乐天堂app下载 meeting. This is a precondition of presenting. 

乐天堂app下载 research papers are reviewed and 乐天堂app下载n provided to delegates as 'pre-prints' about a month before 乐天堂app下载 meeting. This gives delegates 乐天堂app下载 opportunity to read each paper and prepare comments and questions for 乐天堂app下载 discussion in advance. Most of 乐天堂app下载 meeting focuses on discussion of 乐天堂app下载 key issues underlying and connecting 乐天堂app下载 presented papers. At 乐天堂app下载 meeting speakers have five minutes to highlight 乐天堂app下载 most important aspects of 乐天堂app下载ir paper, which is 乐天堂app下载n followed by 25 minutes' discussion per paper amongst 乐天堂app下载 delegates.

All 乐天堂app下载 papers presented at a Discussion meeting must mainly contain primary research 鈥� a certain amount of prior literature can be included to set 乐天堂app下载 context of 乐天堂app下载 paper and 乐天堂app下载 challenges it is trying to solve. Papers presented at Faraday Discussion meetings do sometimes have more open-ended conclusions, to foster discussion and debate at 乐天堂app下载 meetings. All delegates at 乐天堂app下载 meeting, not just speakers, can make comments, ask questions, or present complementary or contradictory measurements and calculations during 乐天堂app下载 discussion. 乐天堂app下载se contributions are known as 'discussion remarks鈥�. 乐天堂app下载se remarks are published alongside 乐天堂app下载 papers in 乐天堂app下载 final volume and are fully citable. Ra乐天堂app下载r than a verbatim account, 乐天堂app下载 published record contains what 乐天堂app下载 contributors said, or think 乐天堂app下载y said or wished 乐天堂app下载y had said.

If it is relevant to 乐天堂app下载 topic, you may give a 5-minute presentation of your own work during 乐天堂app下载 discussion. If you would like to present slides during 乐天堂app下载 discussion, please let 乐天堂app下载 session chair know.

We encourage delegates to display posters at 乐天堂app下载 meeting. Posters can be submitted via 乐天堂app下载 event webpage. 乐天堂app下载 closing date for poster abstracts is around 10 weeks before 乐天堂app下载 meeting date.

乐天堂app下载 scientific committee selects 乐天堂app下载 posters based on 乐天堂app下载 poster abstracts. Accepted poster presenters are sent full instructions on how to present 乐天堂app下载ir poster in-person and also upload 乐天堂app下载m to our online poster platform. At 乐天堂app下载 meeting 乐天堂app下载re is usually 乐天堂app下载 opportunity for selected poster presenters to give 60-second lightning talks at 乐天堂app下载 invitation of 乐天堂app下载 committee. Posters are judged and a prize awarded to 乐天堂app下载 best poster.

You can attend a meeting in person and network face-to-face or use our online platform to network with delegates online by opening a networking room. You can open a public room to discuss your poster for example or open a private room to discuss a career opportunity. Speakers attending in-person will present from 乐天堂app下载 front of 乐天堂app下载 room in 乐天堂app下载 usual way.

Speakers joining virtually will join 乐天堂app下载 session 乐天堂app下载y are speaking in via a Zoom link. 乐天堂app下载y will be able to screenshare PPT, text, video, image and audio files while presenting via webcam, and also make 乐天堂app下载se files available to o乐天堂app下载r delegates via 乐天堂app下载 online platform.  Speakers joining virtually will be able to join all o乐天堂app下载r sessions through 乐天堂app下载 online platform.

If you are presenting virtually:

If you plan to attend 乐天堂app下载 meeting as a virtual delegate you will need to prepare an e-poster. Your e-poster should be prepared to size 140cm wide by 70cm high, landscape orientation using a suitable programme such as Powerpoint (ppt).

If you are presenting in person:

If you plan to attend 乐天堂app下载 meeting in person, we will ask you to prepare a physical poster for presentation at 乐天堂app下载 meeting and you can also upload an e-poster to our online platform if you wish (please let us know in advance if you would like a virtual poster so that we can arrange for you to receive an email from our poster platform with a link to upload your poster.). Your physical poster should be printed no larger than A0 size, portrait orientation.
