Biography
Celia Manaia has a background in Biochemistry and a PhD in Microbiology. She is Associate Professor of Microbiology and Genetics at 乐天堂app下载 Escola Superior de Biotecnologia of Universidade Cat贸lica Portuguesa. As a researcher, she is 乐天堂app下载 head of 乐天堂app下载 Bacterial Ecology Group at Centro de Biotecnologia e Qu铆mica Fina. This group is focused on 乐天堂app下载 study of bacterial diversity and ecology in human-environment interfaces and on 乐天堂app下载 assessment and mitigation of potential adverse impacts on human health and well-being. Highlights of her research include 乐天堂app下载 assessment of potential impacts of wastewater treatment plant emissions, 乐天堂app下载 evaluation of potential risks associated with water reuse, 乐天堂app下载 tracing of antibiotic resistant bacteria and antibiotic resistance genes as environmental contaminants, 乐天堂app下载 assessment of novel advanced water treatment processes and 乐天堂app下载 harmonization and comparability of methods for inter-laboratory antibiotic resistance monitoring in water environments. Currently, she is Vice-President of 乐天堂app下载 Porto Regional Center of Universidade Cat贸lica Portuguesa and Vice-President of 乐天堂app下载 Portuguese Society of Microbiology.
