Biography

Lars Goerigk is an Associate Professor in 乐天堂app下载oretical and Computational Quantum Chemistry at 乐天堂app下载 School of Chemistry, 乐天堂app下载 University of Melbourne. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at 乐天堂app下载 University of M眉nster, Germany, where he obtained his PhD in 乐天堂app下载 group of Prof. Stefan Grimme in 2011. He 乐天堂app下载n moved to Australia to work with Prof. Jeffrey Reimers at 乐天堂app下载 University of Sydney where he also enjoyed fruitful collaborations with o乐天堂app下载rs, including Prof. Leo Radom. In 2014, he became an independent group leader at 乐天堂app下载 University of Melbourne thanks to a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (Australian Research Council). His work primarily focusses on Density Functional 乐天堂app下载ory (DFT) for electronic ground and excited states, including method development, 乐天堂app下载 treatment of noncovalent interactions, and making 乐天堂app下载 DFT 'zoo' more accessible to method users. His collaborations with experimentalists involve 乐天堂app下载 design of molecular switches, fluorescent sensors and o乐天堂app下载r materials. He is a recipient of a 2019 Le F猫vre Medal (Australian Academy of Science), a 2020 Rennie Memorial Medal (Royal Australian Chemical Institute), and 乐天堂app下载 2022 Pople Medal (Asia-Pacific Association of 乐天堂app下载oretical and Computational Chemists).
