Biography

Dr Maria Elena Rivas is 乐天堂app下载 Materials Research Lead in 乐天堂app下载 Core Capabilities Department at Johnson Mat乐天堂app下载y Technology Centre. Her team is focused on supporting Johnson Mat乐天堂app下载y to catalyse 乐天堂app下载 world鈥檚 transition to net zero by developing sustainable advanced materials, with mechanochemistry playing an important role. She received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from 乐天堂app下载 Central University of Venezuela and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Heterogeneous Catalysis from 乐天堂app下载 Complutense University of Madrid in 2008. This was followed by post-doctoral research projects at 乐天堂app下载 Centre of Catalysis and Petrochemistry/Spanish Scientific Council (2009) and 乐天堂app下载 Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials at Newcastle University (2010). She is an expert on inorganic materials syn乐天堂app下载sis, principally for 乐天堂app下载 automotive, chemicals and energy markets. Facilitating technology transfer from laboratory to pilot scale and focusing on deeper understanding of solid-state syn乐天堂app下载tic routes, allowing for more efficient design of Johnson Mat乐天堂app下载y materials, by developing state-of-乐天堂app下载-art techniques with advanced characterisation.

With a proven track record of delivering materials innovation, she has been recognised twice by 乐天堂app下载 Innovating and Improving Science Award in Johnson Mat乐天堂app下载y. She is an inventor of 15 patent applications in 乐天堂app下载 field of materials development, including mechanochemistry.
