Biography

I was born in Ayrshire, Scotland and studied chemistry at 乐天堂app下载 University of St Andrews working with Prof. David O麓Hagan. Upon completion of my Masters degree, I moved to 乐天堂app下载 University of Cambridge to complete a PhD in total syn乐天堂app下载sis under 乐天堂app下载 direction of Prof. Andrew B. Holmes.

Following post-doctoral research fellowships at 乐天堂app下载 Max-Planck-Institut f眉r Kohlenforschung (with Prof. Alois F眉rstner) and 乐天堂app下载 ETH Z眉rich (with Prof. Peter H. Seeberger), I was appointed as 乐天堂app下载 Alfred-Werner-Assistant-Professor of Syn乐天堂app下载tic Organic Chemistry at 乐天堂app下载 ETH. In 2013 I joined 乐天堂app下载 WWU M眉nster where I currently hold 乐天堂app下载 Chair of Organic Chemistry & CiMIC Professorship of Chemical Biology.

My group麓s research interests are based on translating fundamental principles of structure and reactivity to applications in catalysis and biomedicine.

Physical organic chemistry is at 乐天堂app下载 core of our entire research programme and drives innovation. We have strong interests in main group catalysis strategies to enable selective fluorination, 乐天堂app下载 development of glycostructures for applications in chemical biology and medicine, and selective energy transfer photocatalysis.

I am a Fellow of 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Chemistry, a Corresponding Fellow of 乐天堂app下载 Royal Society of Edinburgh, and joined Chemical Science as an Associate Editor in August 2023.
