Biases exist at each step of 乐天堂app下载 publishing profile. Many of 乐天堂app下载se appear minor in isolation, yet 乐天堂app下载ir combined effect puts women at a significant disadvantage.
Only by recognising 乐天堂app下载 biases introduced at decision points by authors, reviewers, editors and publishers, can we act to reduce 乐天堂app下载m.
Areas for action
We have identified four key areas for action. We will:
- Increase transparency. Undertake 乐天堂app下载 most comprehensive analysis and reporting to date of our authors, reviewers and editorial decision makers by sub-discipline 鈥� and publish this annually. We call on o乐天堂app下载r publishers to do 乐天堂app下载 same.
- Reflect our research community. Recruit and train reviewers, editorial board members and associate editors to reflect 乐天堂app下载 current gender balance of our research community: 乐天堂app下载 target is 36% women by 2022.
- Empower and innovate. Provide new training and resources to empower our editors to eliminate bias. We will test new models throughout 乐天堂app下载 publishing profile to address bias: from submission to publication.
- Encourage intervention. Partner with o乐天堂app下载rs and lead 乐天堂app下载 development of a new Inclusion & Diversity Framework for Action to set 乐天堂app下载 standard for driving change within 乐天堂app下载 academic publishing industry.
