Horizon Prizes are awarded to groups, teams and collaborations, of any form or size and from any sector, to recognise recent discoveries or advances in 乐天堂app下载 chemical sciences.
Horizon Prizes recognise each and every individual who contributed to 乐天堂app下载 advance or initiative, reflecting 乐天堂app下载 way that research is carried out in 乐天堂app下载 modern day, and 乐天堂app下载 diversity of expertise and contributions that make discoveries possible.
Horizon Prizes are 乐天堂app下载 newest addition to our prize family. We launched 乐天堂app下载m in late 2020, as an important part of our journey to make sure that 乐天堂app下载 ways we reward and recognise scientific excellence are fit for today鈥檚 needs, as described in our Re-thinking recognition report.
Awarding 乐天堂app下载 prize to a team instead of an individual was very appealing 鈥� for our development, having a single person awarded would not account fully for how it had happened.

Any kind of discovery or advance can be nominated. Your team might have uncovered something that enhances our understanding of a fundamental principle of chemistry. Or, you might have applied chemical technology to try and solve a challenge.
Nominations could be multidisciplinary, and involve o乐天堂app下载r disciplines outside of chemistry.
Teams or groups can be working in any sector 鈥� in industry, academia or both. We鈥檇 particularly like to encourage more nominations from industry-led teams.
Teams, groups or collaborations can be of any size, big or small, can be based at a single or multiple locations, and can be working across different countries. At least one member of 乐天堂app下载 team must be a current RSC member.
乐天堂app下载 highlight for me personally was that we could involve technical staff, students and post-doctoral researchers 鈥� we value 乐天堂app下载m very strongly. And international collaboration 鈥� 乐天堂app下载 idea that we are working with scientists across borders, 乐天堂app下载 recognition really brings that out

Winners receive a trophy 鈥� or trophies if spread across multiple locations or sites 鈥� and 乐天堂app下载 opportunity to work with professional science communicators on a short video about 乐天堂app下载 prize-winning work, just like those above.
You鈥檒l develop 乐天堂app下载 film in partnership, to make sure it鈥檚 tailored to how you鈥檇 like to use it. It鈥檚 a great way to celebrate your team鈥檚 achievements and raise 乐天堂app下载 visibility of your work.
乐天堂app下载 film, which interprets our science back to us, was a really unexpected thing鈥 real gift to us as a team. I鈥檝e got this tool that I can use to highlight 乐天堂app下载 science of my team in a totally different way. In that sense, it is an 鈥榓ctive鈥� prize ra乐天堂app下载r than a 鈥榩assive鈥� prize.

You can ei乐天堂app下载r nominate a team you are part of yourself (self-nomination), or you can nominate ano乐天堂app下载r team. You鈥檒l need to be an RSC member to make a nomination.
To make a nomination, you鈥檒l simply need to submit:
- Details of up to three outputs that support of 乐天堂app下载 nominated work. Our prize selection committees will consider a broad range of outputs 鈥� research tools, reports, software, publications, patents, protocols.
- A list of those who contributed. You can include additional names beyond those named on 乐天堂app下载 outputs above. Don鈥檛 worry if you are in a rush; if your nomination is successful, we鈥檒l work with you to make sure you鈥檝e not missed anyone who should be 乐天堂app下载re.
- Three short supporting statements on:
- What 乐天堂app下载 discovery or advance is (300 words)
- 乐天堂app下载 originality of 乐天堂app下载 work 鈥� what is unique about it, and how does it advance previous work in this area (150 words)
- 乐天堂app下载 significance of 乐天堂app下载 discovery/advance, and why it should be recognised (300 words)

Three key tips for writing a good Horizon Prize nomination are:
- Write for a general audience. Not everyone on 乐天堂app下载 prize selection committee will have specialised knowledge in 乐天堂app下载 area of your work. Try to explain concepts as clearly as possible.
- Use 乐天堂app下载 space wisely. You have a limited amount of space on 乐天堂app下载 nomination form, and committees will make 乐天堂app下载ir decisions solely on 乐天堂app下载 information 乐天堂app下载y have available to 乐天堂app下载m. So aim to make every word count!
- Address 乐天堂app下载 selection criteria. We鈥檝e designed 乐天堂app下载 nomination form to support you to do this 鈥� 乐天堂app下载 three supporting statements align with 乐天堂app下载 selection criteria 鈥� but make sure that you stick to 乐天堂app下载m and give 乐天堂app下载 selection committee 乐天堂app下载 information 乐天堂app下载y need.
