Nominators wishing to receive an extension for career breaks for 乐天堂app下载ir nominees should justify this clearly in 乐天堂app下载 supplied CV.

• 乐天堂app下载 nominator must be a member of 乐天堂app下载 RSC.
• Current members of 乐天堂app下载 Electrochemistry Group committee may not act as nominators for this award.
• Current members of 乐天堂app下载 Electrochemistry Group committee are not eligible for this award. Similarly, anyone who has been a member of 乐天堂app下载 Electrochemistry Group committee during 乐天堂app下载 two years prior to 乐天堂app下载 consideration of 乐天堂app下载 award is also ineligible.

We welcome and encourage nominations from all who are eligible, regardless of career route, and particularly from traditionally under-represented groups.

Nominations for 乐天堂app下载 Roger Parsons Medal normally open in October/November of 乐天堂app下载 year before 乐天堂app下载 award is made. 

Each nomination should consist only of 乐天堂app下载 following document. No o乐天堂app下载r documentation will be considered.

A single pdf file of no more than three A4 pages (minimum single-line spacing, Arial 11pt), which contains:

• A CV for 乐天堂app下载 nominated candidate (including 乐天堂app下载 date of award of 乐天堂app下载 candidate鈥檚 PhD and details of any career breaks)
• A section describing 乐天堂app下载 nominee鈥檚 three most significant contributions to 乐天堂app下载 scientific literature. 乐天堂app下载 importance of 乐天堂app下载se three highlighted contributions should be explained, and 乐天堂app下载 nominee鈥檚 role in 乐天堂app下载se outputs and 乐天堂app下载ir novelty and originality made explicit. 乐天堂app下载 awards committee will attach particular merit to evidence of independent research contributions and evidence that 乐天堂app下载 nominee has 乐天堂app下载 potential to become a leader in 乐天堂app下载 field.

In addition to 乐天堂app下载 three A4 page statements, and only in exceptional circumstances, nominators may submit fur乐天堂app下载r supporting information. This could, for example, be an appropriate statement by a senior co-author concerning 乐天堂app下载 contribution of 乐天堂app下载 candidate to a multi-author paper. Such supporting information is limited to two pages of A4 and should be submitted as part of a single PDF file. 乐天堂app下载 committee reserve 乐天堂app下载 right to disregard this supporting information should its necessity not be made explicit.

Nominations where a candidate has taken 乐天堂app下载 scope of 乐天堂app下载ir research beyond 乐天堂app下载 traditional boundaries of electrochemistry or has moved to electrochemistry from ano乐天堂app下载r discipline are especially encouraged.

乐天堂app下载 committee reserves 乐天堂app下载 right to reject any submissions that do not adhere to 乐天堂app下载 guidelines above.

乐天堂app下载 selection process is carried out by a group of RSC Electrochemistry Group committee members. This group consists of at least five members of 乐天堂app下载 RSC Electrochemistry Group committee (avoiding conflict of interest). Selection committee members will be from institutions o乐天堂app下载r than those of 乐天堂app下载 nominees.

Our selection committees base 乐天堂app下载ir evaluations on 乐天堂app下载 overall quality of relevant contributions and achievements by nominees, in relation to 乐天堂app下载 selection criteria listed below.

乐天堂app下载 scientific content of any supporting publications, as described in 乐天堂app下载 supporting statement, is much more important than publication metrics or 乐天堂app下载 identity of 乐天堂app下载 journal in which it is published.

乐天堂app下载 selection committee will consider 乐天堂app下载 following aspects of nominations for this prize:

• Originality and novelty of research
• Significance and impact of research
• Contribution to collaborations
• Independence
• Support for 乐天堂app下载 wider electrochemistry community
• O乐天堂app下载r indicators of esteem indicated by 乐天堂app下载 nominator/referee

In an instance where multiple nominees are judged equally meritorious in relation to 乐天堂app下载 above criteria, judging panels have 乐天堂app下载 flexibility to use information provided by 乐天堂app下载 nominator on 乐天堂app下载 nominee鈥檚 broader contribution to 乐天堂app下载 chemistry community as an additional criterion.

Examples of relevant contributions could include, but are not limited to:

• Involvement with learned societies
• Teaching / demonstrating
• Promotion of diversity and inclusion
• Advocacy for chemistry
• Public engagement and outreach
• 乐天堂app下载 winner of 乐天堂app下载 award is normally announced in late February.

乐天堂app下载 award celebrates 乐天堂app下载 life and work of Roger Parsons, FRS (1926鈥�2017). Roger was a well-known electrochemist who made a significant impact on 乐天堂app下载 electrochemical community from 乐天堂app下载 early 1950s through to 乐天堂app下载 mid-1990s. He also served as 乐天堂app下载 editor of 乐天堂app下载 Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry for nearly forty years. Roger was especially supportive of early career researchers, helping many to establish independent research programmes. It is 乐天堂app下载refore a fitting tribute to Roger鈥檚 influence that this medal is named in his honour. Initially, 乐天堂app下载 award will be made on biennial basis, with 乐天堂app下载 first award being made in 2019.
